Rooted in History

We are rooted in History. From 1955 to 1993, the Sisters of Divine Providence owned and operated Divine Providence Hospital on Pittsburgh's North Side. When the hospital was sold to the Mercy Health System in 1993, the Sisters wanted to remain in ministry to the people living in North Side neighborhoods.

Providence Connections was established in 1994 as a parent corporation of Providence Family Support Center, an outreach ministry providing various services to North Side families and children and Amelia House in Clarion County, which serves women and their children who are homeless and/or victims of domestic violence.

Providence Connections, Inc. and its programs are non-denominational and serve families in need regardless of race, creed or national origin.
